Good Weekend

I hope you all have a good weekend.

We'll be with friends and Colin's family this weekend.

Family is special.  Treasure it.  Hold on to it.  Don't let anything destroy it.

Guilt Free Spice Cake & Baking Tunes

1 box of Spice Cake Mix
+
8 oz. of No Sugar Added Apple Sauce
+
1 cup of water
=
yummy cupcakes/muffins!
They're also lower in calories than regular cake!
win win!
(thanks again to hungry girl)

I did add a little guilty cream cheese icing on top of them :)

Just bake according to the box.  And you read right, just 3 ingredients-- don't add the eggs or oil!

While you bake up a batch, listen to this:

Everyday Workspace Shots & Free Music

a peek into my office:
i'm currently doing a lot of writing/editing, so no video editing going on at the moment.
listening to:
dana falconberry (free songs)
death cab for cutie (free songs)

now enjoy some good tunes while you work with me :)

Some Quirky Inspiration

Thank you everyone for allowing me to break my own rule and post random recipes!  You got my back!

I wanted to share this video of a Vivienne Westwood interview to encourage all you crafters, bakers, artists, writers, creators to do what you do, no matter how odd it may seem to some, because you never know when you're changing the world :)

Have a good creating day!

xoxo,
marla

Edit: While you're crafting today, listen to some Satellite.  My friend Josh (who sang and played in our wedding...not to be confused with my brother Josh who did also) is in the band.  He's the one in the music video that lights his cigarette with a blow torch (yes, that made me nervous).

Pizza Rolls

Okay Okay, I know I said no recipes for awhile...
but...
but...
this one is so goooood!

My husband agrees...he even took pictures while I was making a batch (I made this two days in a row).
I present....
Pizza Rolls
makes 8 rolls
Ingredients:
1 can- crescent rolls dough (Pillsbury's lightly buttered is what I used)
Basil pesto sauce (leftover from the bruschetta!)
Mozzarella (left over from the bruschetta and pizza!)
Pepperoni (left over from the pizza!)
Peppercini peppers (left over from the pizza!)
So basically this is me cleaning out the fridge and making as many meals as I can from the same ingredients :)

*First spread the pesto on the dough, layer the rest of the ingredients (see above picture).

*Then roll the little puppies like you would a regular crescent roll.

*Tuck the sides in so it makes little balls so everything cooks nicely inside the dough.
*Cook according to the crescent roll package.

Voila!
These are restaurant quality!  You could make this as an appetizer or party treat.  Or just serve it as a meal like I did...soooooo good, I promise!

See, wasn't this worth breaking the no-recipe-for-awhile rule?
