Blizzard Food

The snowpocalypse is about to hit, so I hope you're stocked up with some great snacks and warm food!  Colin and I went to Walmart last night, which was highly entertaining.  This is what's going to get me through the snow day:
We were at my in-laws' this weekend, and my mother-in-law shared this popcorn with me.  She had a small bag from Walgreen's.  I got this bigger bag from Walmart.  Warning: you will consume more than necessary, so the smaller bag is definitely the safer way to go.  BUT you'll be wanting more, so just go for the big bag!  Colin said it was so sweet that it made his teeth hurt, but I'm immune to the average sweetness, so for me the sweeter-- the better!  This is so good it'll make you wanna slap yo momma (sorry mom, but it's true, and you'd agree!).

What meals and snacks do you like on snow days?

[Healthy] Super Bowl Snacks

I wasn't feeling too great yesterday and spent most of the day in bed.  Around 6:00 I arose from my slumber, and after showering, started craving some snacks.  My hubby was great to fix me a grilled cheese for lunch and even bring it to me in bed (awww).  I decided to return the favor by cooking up two healthy snacks for him to enjoy while watching the Super Bowl game.

homemade potato skins and zucchini fritters

This was my first time to make the fritters, and they were absolutely delish!  They're a great way to sneak those unused, withering zucchinis into a dish.  Colin really liked them, and I think kids would dig them.

We won't talk about the chocolate chip cookies I baked after that...they were purely to make me feel better :).

Mexican Burger

Happy Friday!

Do you have snow where you live?  We're about to get hit with it (if the weathermen know what they're talking about).

When it's cold and snowy outside you need a warm meal, so today I've got an usual one to share with you.

Mexican Hamburger
This was birthed out of the fact I was trying to be creative with what was in the fridge.

I took a leftover hamburger patty and spread refried beans on top.

Then I melted cheese on top of it.

And served it with salsa.

It was really yummy!  Even Colin liked it:

I started thinking about the other combinations you could do:
add rice
avocado/guacamole
sour cream

It's like a quesadilla without the tortilla!

Now I'm hungry, and it's not even 9:00 a.m.!

Victoria's Secret Wrap Sweater Knock-Off

I found directions for making this Bernina Chic Wrap and it seemed like the day I finished it, I got a Victoria's Secret catalog in the mail with an almost identical wrap!  Check it out the Victoria's Secret Wrap Sweater and see all the various ways to wear it.

I got the material on sale, so it cost me less than $5 to make this.  That's much cheaper than the $49 sale price at VS!
I'm only 5'1'', so the wrap is a bit long for me and looks silly just hanging down.  It looks better if I wrap and tie it in the back or knot it in the front.  If you're super tall, this would be perfect; however, the back of the wrap hits my waist, so taller people need to adjust it to be longer in the back.

Don't you just love when you can make something that you find in style at a store!!!

I've Been Bad

Last night I made a cheesy, sour cream chicken casserole.  I put it in the oven, and as soon as I shut the door and set the timer, I decided I wanted pancakes.

Where did that come from?!?

I'm not a huge pancake lover.  Just a normal pancake lover.  And no, not preggers.  But I could not stop thinking about pancakes and craving pancakes!

So as the casserole baked, I whipped up some fluffy cakes.

And covered them in all things sugary...peanut butter and icing.
In my defense Colin ate one of the peanut butter cakes.

To top it off (and wash it down), I made one of my faves:
CHOCOLATE MILK!!!

But it's not just any chocolate milk.  It's made with dark chocolate syrup.

While I know that was not a well balanced meal, I still feel that...
...I might have died and gone to heaven.

And in case you're wondering, Colin ate the casserole :)
