Baby Boy Monogram Onesies + Dinosaur Baby Shower

My sister-in-law is having a little boy this summer, so I'm getting to buy and make all kinds of little boy clothes!  I loooove making things for my daughter (girls are so fun!), but I've also really been enjoying all the boy things I've come across in stores and in craft ideas.

Below are some embroidery projects I've been making for some little boys (a friend is also due with a boy this summer).

First I'll show you some pictures from a dinosaur themed baby shower I threw with some of my sister-in-law's friends.

Now on to the onesies!
The font used for the CVL monogram is Pessoas Lindas.  I used Sew What Pro (SWP) to make the updated looking monogram.

The high top is from Lynnie Pinnie, and I used SWP to add the name in the font A Year Without Rain.  I used felt and fleece to give the shoe some dimension.

The sunglasses are also from Lynnie Pinnie.  I put a little C in the corner, but you can't really tell unless you're looking.

Yep, the bear is from Lynnie Pinnie, too!  Her stuff stitches out so well, and unlike some designers, she includes a file of the order of what stitches.  It takes the guess work out of it.

I used SWP to combine all the elements you see.  I can't remember for sure, but I think the font I used for UCA is Fava.  I skipped some stitches at the end on my embroidery machine to leave it with just a simple stitch on the edges to make it look more collegiate.  I used either A Year Without Rain font or Forever 'n Ever font for the word soccer (I can't remember!).  My sister-in-law's husband played soccer at the college we all attended.

And here is one more pair of glasses from Lynnie Pinnie for my friend's little boy that's on the way.  The font is Forever 'n Ever, and I used SWP to add it above the pocket.  I also shrunk down each sunglass pocket to 50% of the size to get it to be proportional to the onesie.

I had no idea that boy clothes could be so cute!  Here are some things I've found.  Boys may not have all the accessories that girls have, but it doesn't mean there aren't cute things out there!

Embroidered Patches: Razorbacks and Bears, Oh My!

These designs are all from Lynnie Pinnie:

I stitched them out, cut them, and applied Heat 'n Bond to the back.  You can iron them on to whatever you want.  This is a good trick for materials/fabrics/items that you might fear embroidering directly on or for someone who just wants to order a patch, which may cost less.

It was just a fun little project for me.  The shirts above just have the patches laying on them, not ironed on, to show you what they look like.

Embroidered Easter Basket & Bunny

Hippity-Hoppity Easter's on its way!  So, let's craft!  Today we're going to dress up a store bought Easter basket and personalize a bunny.  And guess what-- two of the embroidery designs I'm using are FREE!
This zig zag egg is from Lynnie Pinnie, and yes, it's free!  I used the Curlz Appliqué font for the H and Curly Girl font for the rest of the name to pair with the egg.
The other side of the basket has this adorable chick from Beau Mitchell (yep, it's free, too!).  I embroidered an H in Curlz font on top of the shell.
I was too much of a scaredy cat to embroider directly on the basket.  It's a felt/foam basket I got at Walgreen's last Easter for Harlow's first basket.  I embroidered the designs, trimmed them to the shape of the appliqué, and used Heat and Bond to iron them onto the basket.
Last year I saw pictures of bunnies with names embroidered on the ears.  I had my embroidery machine, but had never used it by that point, so I knew it was a project I wanted to try when I got the hang of embroidering.  I forgot about it until I saw people posting bunny pictures this year in an embroidery group on Facebook.  This is a bunny Harlow got while I was pregnant, so I used the Quirky Girl font and gave it a try.  While it isn't perfect, I think it turned out pretty cute and will be fun to use in Easter pictures.

What Easter projects are you going to try this year?

Embroidered Easter Shirts

Easter is on the way!  There are so many cute Easter designs out there.  I had trouble narrowing it down to just two designs, so I came up with some additional Easter projects!  I did two onesies and two designs on an Easter basket that I'll share tomorrow (plus one more Easter project!).

The shirt designs are from Lynnie Pinnie.  She has such cute designs that stitch out so well.  It's definitely one of my favorite embroidery sites.

I love Easter!  If only it were this easy to find an Easter dress for myself!

Embroidered Christmas Outfits for Harlow

We're busy enjoying December over here!  Our Christmas shopping is done, but presents still need to be wrapped.  The house is decorated, and Harlow has some outfits to celebrate the season!
We found this Christmas elf at Lowe's the other night.  She was quite taken with the nutcracker inflatable...and every other inflatable we had to walk up to and visit.

I embroidered two Christmas shirts for her from lynniepinnie.com.  I love the designs from that site, and they have great sales!
If you've ever read any of my other embroidery posts, then you know I like to embroider the designs not directly on the onesie.  Since these are for my daughter and she won't fit in these onesies next year, I like to have the ability to use a seam ripper to remove the design and sew it onto another shirt.  And that means I can reuse the onesie if we ever have another kid.  Frugality for the win!
After embroidering the pattern, I hand stitched them onto a piece of fabric and then used my sewing machine to sew that fabric on the onesie.
When I took these pics, the shirts hadn't been washed since being embroidered.  I like that when they are washed, the plaid frays a bit around the edges.  I stitch them so it will leave room for some fraying.  I'm wild like that.

It was hard for me to only make two shirts for her.  There are so many cute Christmas designs!
